The IPG and IRSAP UK outline current trends in the heating sector, from independent businesses to radiator designs Robin Beal, Managing Director of The IPG:

"The hot spell outside continues, and while the sun shines, many homeowners are taking the opportunity to get their heating systems in order. Consistent warm weather makes renovation projects inside the home less disruptive, which we think explains the recent increase seen in sales of boilers, radiators and other heating supplies across many of our members' stores, as tradesmen turn to their local independent specialists for the best deals and advice.

One of the major benefits of carrying out renovation and repair work when your heating system isn't in use is that you can take your time weighing up your options, and making sure you choose the right system for the property. At this time of year more than ever, our members see their customers make full use of their face-to-face consultancy, their knowledge and experience and their personalised customer service."

Simon Morris, Marketing Manager for IRSAP UK Group (which owns The Radiator Company & Supplies4Heat): "Perhaps the biggest trend for design at the moment is the increasingly popular matte black and dark grey colours. These colours are appearing in bathroom showrooms on showers and taps, which is driving a demand for matching towel rails and radiators.

For materials, aluminium is on the way up due to its contemporary designs and excellent thermal properties, particularly for lower dT systems.

Finally, cast iron is still going strong especially with polished or special finishes, as are classic copper and brass finishes which are continuing to prove popular especially in kitchens and industrial inspired interiors."
