On Tuesday, 9th September 2025, Trade Local Day returned, celebrating the spirit of independent member stores across The IPG. The day was brought to life with decorated trade counters, lively supplier networking, and free giveaways that delighted trade customers.
The IPG watched a number of members take part and celebrate the day, many teaming up with suppliers to host demonstrations for their trade customers and highlight some amazing Trade Local Day promotions- including some that ran for the whole of September! Many members added to the celebrations by treating the trade to food and entertainment, such as Ballock & Bits who served up breakfast and a round of indoor golf for their customers.
Mark Millar, The IPG’s brand ambassador and familiar face from BBC One’s DIY SOS, hit the road once again to visit IPG member stores throughout the day. At Ipswich Plumb Store Ltd and G&M (Plumbing & Heating) Ltd, Mark rolled up his sleeves, chatting with the trade, creating engaging social content and rallying the teams to shout loud and proud about Trade Local Day.
Nick from G&M said: “Having Mark Millar with us was a big highlight, his energy, enthusiasm and willingness to engage with people helped set the mood for the day.”
G&M demonstrated true pride in being an independent business by fully embracing a national event like this. They extended their opening hours to welcome more of the local community, hosted a BBQ and organised light-hearted games such as ‘toss a turd’, all combining to create a truly worthwhile and memorable experience for their customers.
As Trade Local Day drew to a close, it once again highlighted that independent businesses remain at the heart of the UK’s trade community. Their passion, commitment, and dedication to local trade not only drive their own success but also help strengthen the communities they proudly serve.
Save the date for next year’s Trade Local Day – Wednesday 9th September 2026!
